We decided to use two characters for our poster so that people could get to recognise their faces and would make the picture interesting. We chose the characters of Pixie and Charlie because we think they have the most interesting relationship and we could photograph this well. We chose an outside setting to show the fact that setting is important and we took lots of photos in different angles and settings to find the right one for our poster. We also wanted to keep the poster quite simple with not too much information on it a bit like drip feeding advertising to create intrigue and 'media hype' around the new soap. We would edit the images on Photoshop to add effects and text easily.

We then chose these to images as our favourites and decided to try editing both of the pictures to see which one was our favourite. We especially loved the setting of these photos as you can see the reflection of a tree in the glass and we thought this perfectly juxtaposed the brickwork of the wall and helped represent the name Garden City.

Editing...

Image 1

Adjusted hue settings to add a blue tint to the picture for a cold feel.

Used the burn tool to add darker corners to give a dark, eerie effect.

Added the text "Coming Soon" in a cold grey colour and our chosen logo font and "Garden City"  in our main colour, red to contrast and represent the colour scheme.

Add the edited E4 logo we created to show what channel its on and we were happy.

Image 2

Adjusted the hue of the photo to give a pink tint to the photography to represent " rose tinted glasses" symbolising everything isn't what it seems.

Used the burn tool to darken the corners and other areas to make the picture feel darker and urban.

Added the text "coming soon" in red to go with the pink hue of the background and "Garden City" in black to be bold and stand out.

Added red E4 logo slanted in their signiture style to show what channel it would be on.

The Final Posters...

We really liked this poster because it represented the two characters well and was visually effective.  However we felt the characters were too distant and did not represent their relationship well. Also the pink hue and the red slightly clashed and having the main font in black went against our typical colours scheme.

We really liked this poster because of its eeriness and the connection between our two characters. It is tense, exciting and want to know more about these two people which was the effect we wanted. We also liked having the main ' Garden City' in red to represent the colour scheme and it goes well with the E4 logo we created. Therefore this is the poster we have chosen to accompany our soap opera trailer.
